Fun Facts About Silly Little Me
I just turned a quarter of a century this past September. My hubby and I are settled into Bloomington, Indiana—a charming little college town that has a lot to offer, like Broadway shows! We’re surrounded by all the greenery we could want, and the fabulous parks call to us on lovely days.
My favorite place I’ve ever been is Berlin, Germany. The city has such a rich history running through its veins and they don’t cover over the messy bits. Off the beaten tourist track, it has all sorts of little shops and cafes that felt like home. I settled into that city like a favorite sweater and didn’t want to leave.
I love to crochet, read, watch TV, cook, and salsa dance.
I drink at least a pot of tea a day, but it always gets cold because I get so busy doing other things. I am a total introvert, but I try not to let that get in my way. I am fiercely competitive, but I’m horrible at sports.
I cry at books and movies. I didn’t used to be sentimental and then I read Anne of the Island in 8th grade and the water works have been on ever since. I can’t even watch Courageous any more because the roller coaster of emotions is just too much! When no one can hear me, I sing at the top of my lungs. When people are around, sometimes I’ll do it anyway.
At just five years old, I gave my life to Christ. It was the best decision I ever made. The second best decision was marrying the most amazing man in the world: Alan Gonzalez.
My Physical Integrity Specialist
My husband, affectionately known as Alancio, is a top-notch process engineer for GM. I could give you all the details, or I could just tell you that he works with molten aluminum—which is very pretty—and uses a lot of words like “physical integrity” and “safety hazard” even around the house. I could gush about him forever, but I’ll just fill you in on the highlights:
- I met him salsa dancing. His awesome skills on the floor swept me off my feet.
- Our first date was terrifying—find out why. But I’m so glad I stuck around to find out more about this amazingly smart, adventurous man.
- He proposed five months later. I won’t spoil the story—you’ll just have to read about—but it’s both the funniest and sweetest story I’ve ever heard.
- On May 11, 2013, I got to call my best friend my husband. It was the perfect day! (I’ll share more soon.)
The King of the House
Meet our spoiled rotten pug, Pascal Ballotelli Iglesias. Yes. We’re the crazy people that gave him three names. But really, he just goes by Paski or, when he deserves it, Pascal the Rascal.
The Midwest is in My Blood
I was born in Kentucky. When I was not quite two we moved to the farmlands of Indiana. Somewhere along that 300-mile journey, I lost my Barney. For Christmas I got seven replacements. Growing up, we would make forts in the cornfield behind our house, walk barefoot through the grass and gravel, and drive dad’s truck down the back roads.
I moved to Ohio at age twelve—man did that make Inside Out hit close to home—and I moved back to Indiana after high school. I know how things work in the Midwest. You smile at people when they pass you on the street. You hold doors open for each other. And every season the leaves and the temperature change.
So moving to Mexico the day after Alan and I married was quite a shock! But I loved getting to know the people and the culture. And oh, the food was amazing! We would leave the market with overflowing bags of the freshest produce you can imagine for less than $10.
Where to Go From Here
I’ve filled pages with facts and tidbits, but really, it doesn’t even scratch the surface of who I am. To get to know me better link up with me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Bloglovin’.
