Ahhh, back to one of my favorite topics. I consume more books than ice cream, and that’s saying something. So for those of you who love a good novel but don’t have the time to try a bunch on for size, I’ve done the heavy lifting for you. Here are some of the best books in their respective categories.
Warning! Do not read Miss Match by Erynn Mangum in public. I tried to read it on a plane and was laughing waaaaaaay too hard for polite society. This book had me rolling and it’s one of only five books I’ve read more than once. (Btw, I’m so sad you guys can’t see the old cover. It was so much more fun!)
Deception on Sable Hill by Shelley Grey had me hooked from the beginning. The characters were robust and the mystery kept me guessing. It was enjoyable from start to finish! It’s the second in a series, which I didn’t know until just now, so clearly it can be read as a stand alone.
The Island of Heavenly Daze by Lori Copeland and Angela Hunt is a breath of fresh air. I read it during a particularly turbulent time in my life, and it just soothed my soul. I just love the concept: Angels live among the inhabitants of a small island off the coast of Maine.
Okay, so I have to admit, I started the Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy several times, before I got all the way through. Classics tend to be a bit too slow for me, but then I got the audiobook. I was hooked in the first half hour and finished the whole thing in two days. It is a truly excellent story!
Cinder by Marissa Meyer was a New York Times Bestseller, and it’s easy to see why. I love a good fairy tale retelling and this one is phenomenal. I love how she weaves bits and pieces of our world into this futuristic tale. It’s pretty awesome and definitely worth checking out.
Coming of Age
Kristen Billerbeck’s Perfectly Dateless is easily one of my favorite books. It’s hilarious, honest, and all too true of me in my high school years. I recommend this no matter what your age, especially for you A-type personalities out there (just like me!). You’ll have a blast!
What are some of your favorite books? Do you have a genre you love and would like to see a recommendation for? What are you reading now? I’d love to know!
