Cute Hairstyles for Busy Women

Cute Hairstyles for Busy WomenI don’t know about you, but I need my hair up in this heat if I’m going to walk outside. However, throwing up my hair into a ponytail doesn’t do it for me because the humidity takes all my little frizzies and gives them the volume I can’t buy. So I want to let you in on my personal favorite and lifesaver hairstyle.

It takes all of two minutes and looks just as good with dirty hair as it does clean. All you need is a clip and a hair band.

I call it The Belle Ponytail after my favorite Disney princess. (Is anyone else excited that Emma Watson is playing Belle in the new live-action Beauty and the Beast?!)

Belle Ponytail Starting with brushed-out hair, part your hair wherever it’s natural–for me it’s just off center. I begin on the left because that’s the side with less hair.

Square 1: Slide your finger under your hair about an inch below the part and separate a strand of hair about an inch wide. Then twist the strand away from your face two or three times.

Square 2: Holding on to the strand with your left hand, slide your right pointer finger under another inch (or less) of hair–holding the twisted strand towards the back of your head and the new strand nearest to your face. Feed this strand over the top of the twist and add it to existing strand. Twist all the hair now in your hand away from your face.

Square 3-4: Continue repeating this step, each time making the strand of hair a bit wider so that the twisted ridge you’re creating angles backwards and down from your part. Smooth out the hair as you’re adding it in to avoid any bumps. There’s no need to straighten your hair (just one more reason I love this style), just comb it down with your fingers while adding in each strand.

Special: For the half-up-half-down version that I love during the cooler months, stop adding hair once you reach above and behind the ear, pull the twisted strand behind your head and bobby pin in place. Repeat on the other side. For the fully up version, continue reading.

Square 5: Continue angling down and back until you reach the center of the back of your head. Once there, clip the hair down to keep it in place. Then repeat on the other side!

Square 6-8: After completing the twist on both sides, remove the clip, gather both sides in one hand, and use your hair band to create a ponytail.

Most of the time, I just leave it as is… because it’s super cute! But from there, the variations are endless. Doing a topsy-turvy ponytail (you 90s babies will know what I’m talking about) at the end will complete the Belle in the blue dress look.

Topsy Turvy Ponytail

Now, just so that you’re warned, the first time I tried this, it took me 10-15 minutes to get it right. But now I can do it in about 3 minutes… without a mirror. It’s super easy once you get the hang of it. And it’s my favorite because it looks very classy and tucks away all my crazy frizzies so they can’t escape.

    SO cute!
I always have such good intentions of leaving my hair down during the work day… then after about 15 minutes it’s up in a pony tail or clip because I can’t STAND it any more (I probably need a cut) but then it just looks blah all day, this is perfect!

I love this! It’s adorable 🙂 My next two weeks at work are going to be very very busy so I’ll definitely be utilizing this 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

So cute and a lifesaver! After just having my second baby something besides a pony tail everyday would be welcome. These have been added to the short list!

I love this! I would never think to do something like this but it’s so cute.

Cute hairstyle! I used to fix my hair like this a lot when my hair was longer. Now I usually throw it in a bun and go haha!

When my hair is longer, I usually do a similar hairstyle to this! It’s fast and easy and still looks cute!

This is so pretty! I will have to give it a try 🙂

Both of these styles are so cute. I tend to get headaches when the pony tails are high, but these look like just the right height 🙂

I love both of these styles! But I never have the time I usually just do a messy bun and run out of the door! If I have time I do my usual braid. I love both of these on you!

Great hairstyles! I’m always looking for easy styles like this — especially in summer when it’s too hot to have all my hair down.

I love these cute ponytails! 🙂 I donated my hair to Locks of Love back in March, so my hair is still too short for a ponytail, sigh. But I’m growing it out, so hopefully soon. 🙂

  14. I love doing a fun twist on a ponytail or braid during the summer. I recently learned how to do a fish-tail braid and it’s amazing how just a little change makes it look so fancy!

I used to do a style like that when I was younger, and I completely forgot about it until now. SO easy and cute!

I am so not patient enough to do my hair. haha! I either wear it down and curly (it air dries) or throw it in a ponytail or bun with a headband. I wish I could do my hair, I just feel like it takes so much time and patience that I don’t have.

Haha I used to love this hairstyle when I was a kid! I always wore it and felt like Belle from beauty and the beast!

Very cute! I always have to have my hair pulled away from my face around the kids, so this is perfect. My oldest loves Beauty and the Beast, so he would be excited if I looked anything like Belle 🙂
